FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY ARE THE PER HOUR PRICES DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT PACKAGES?
Simple: more commitment means more security (for both sides). I can afford to charge less when clients pay for more of my time because it accounts for time that would otherwise be spent on unpaid tasks like marketing and client acquisition.
WHY ARE SOME PACKAGES OFFERED AT NO COST?
There is so much about fertility and pregnancy and birth that is joyful and beautiful, and it’s a great privilege to be able to share in that. But there are also unintended, unexpected and tragic experiences on some of these journeys, and those tend to me the moments where people need the most support and definitely do not need the added stress of managing payments.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR NO COST SERVICES?
Anyone, regardless of their income, qualifies for these services: abortion after care, hyperemesis/“HG” pregnancy support, and pregnancy loss/stillbirth support.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT YOUR NO COST SERVICES?
On the Donation link at the top of this page. There are three specific services you can opt to donate to, depending on your means or the cause that is most meaningful to you.
WHAT PACKAGE IS BEST FOR ME?
It totally depends on where you are on your fertility journey and what your unique support needs are.
If you’re just starting to think about having a baby but don’t have any concrete plans yet, a single meeting (the Earth Cycle) might be enough. If you’re new to exploring your fertility journey and don’t have any specific plans but feel some sense of urgency because of your age or prior health issues, the Moon Cycle (one month of support) may be best because it’ll give us enough time to establish a baseline for the next stage, once you start trying to get pregnant. If you’re fully committed to trying to get pregnant imminently or you’ve already been trying for some time, the Sun Cycle (one year of support) is probably the best.
Note that every package is fully customized based on your needs and goals. Schedule time with me (via the Schedule link above) to set up a no-cost intro call to figure out which package is best for you at this moment in your life.
DOES SUPPORT HAPPEN IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY? DO YOU ONLY SEE LOCAL CLIENTS?
I offer both in person and virtual support, fully dependent on the specific needs and location of the customized plan I create together with my clients. Logistically, of course, the more local I am to the client, the more in-person support I can offer, BUT that doesn’t mean I can’t support someone geographically from afar fully virtually, again depending on their specific needs at this moment in their life.
For non-local clients, I offer a virtual-only Sun Cycle package, which includes 20 hours (instead of 40) over the course of one year.
HOW IS TIME MANAGED AND TRACKED?
I track time in 30 minute minimum increments, which are somewhat flexible (meaning, don’t sweat it if we go a few minutes past our scheduled time). I only bill for time where you have my full attention, ie a time together for a check in meeting, or time spent working on a deliverable like a birth plan; I will not bill for time spent commuting (45 minutes or less) or time on text/email correspondence (unless the correspondence is producing a deliverable like research on treatment options).
WHAT IF I’M ALREADY PREGNANT BEFORE WE START WORKING TOGETHER?
Congratulations! Even though my primary focus on fertility and conception support, the services I offer are intended to be holistic and continue throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. So if you’re pregnant, it just means we’ve just got a bit of a head start :)
WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET PREGNANT THE FIRST MONTH WE’RE WORKING TOGETHER?
Mazel tov! Piggybacking on the answer above, this just means we get a bit of a head start on our work together. Doula support is especially useful during early weeks, when you may not be feeling well physically, and even through the first 20 weeks or so, when you might be anxious about confirming a healthy and viable pregnancy.
WHAT DOES YOUR LABOR/BIRTH SUPPORT SYSTEM LOOK LIKE?
Full disclosure: I cannot be 100% there for you, 100% of the time. Partly because I have other clients, partly because I have a small child, and partly because birth is wholly unpredictable.
For context: my own doula, who was hired during peak COVID under the guise of only working with two clients per month (an absolute untruth she told us to get our business), not only double-booked herself, but she insisted there was “no way” I was actually in labor when I reached out during my early labor because she felt it was too early for a first time birth (I was 39 weeks along and she insisted there was no way the baby was coming before 41 weeks). It wasn’t until my contracts were less than five minutes apart that she finally reached out to her back up doula (who I had never met nor was even given a name for until this moment), who was more than an hour away from me. Long story short, I ended up giving birth with NO doula support (thankfully my husband was incredible and filled in seamlessly).
All that said, I promised myself when I decided to become a doula that I would NEVER let what happened to me happen to someone else. So here’s what my labor and birth support looks like:
I am building a collective of 3-4 other independent “back up” doulas that will support each other and our clients through the unpredictable rollercoaster that is labor and delivery. My birth clients will all have a chance to meet each of these doulas, all of whom offer trauma-informed, full spectrum support, and they will all be primed with necessary details re: my clients’ medical and fertility history, birth plans, etc (with the clients’ consent of course!).
Instances where another doula from the collective may be called on for back up support:
If I am unavailable when a client reaches out to request in-person labor support; if possible, I will relieve the back up support as soon as I become available.
If more than 10 consecutive hours of in-person birth support is needed.
No additional payment is required for a back up doula, I will pay them directly.
WHAT IF I STILL HAVE TIME LEFTOVER PAST OUR YEAR TOGETHER?
Any time leftover from the Sun Cycle package (40 hours/1 year of hybrid support) can be rolled over up to six months past the year. Trust me, you will need the postpartum support at some point or another!
WHAT IF MY NEEDS DON’T FIT INTO ANY OF YOUR PACKAGES?
Everything is flexible. I really mean this! If you really need some support and/or you really feel we need to be be working together on your fertility journey, PLEASE just hit me up. We will work something out.
