VICTORIA MARIN
I am an educator turned journalist turned doula. I was born on native Tongva land (Los Angeles) and have been living on occupied Lenape land (NYC) for nearly 15 years. I love all things related to food, gardening and animals, and for good reason: Iām a Taurus sun, Virgo moon and Capricorn rising (aka an earth baby to the max).
My daughter is three years old and she is my guiding light.
As a doula, I am warm, even-keeled and reliable. I am kind but I do not suffer fools nor bullies. I am patient and relaxed, but always ready for action. I understand the value of good cries and belly laughs, and make space for both in this sacred work. I am a great listener and a fierce and loving advocate.
For a long time I resisted doing care work professionally because I thought the best way to subvert oppressive systems was to conquer them ā to climb the ladder and fix things from the top. I now wholeheartedly believe that this kind of work is my calling, and that radical, foundational caretaking is the key to creating a better world.
